What our caregivers do in Brandon homes

Mornings are the hard part in most houses. A caregiver arrives, helps with washing and dressing, and gets breakfast made and eaten. That last part matters more than families expect — food gets skipped when nobody is watching.

Then the ordinary maintenance of a home. Laundry, dishes, a wiped-down bathroom, a made bed, floors that do not accumulate. Light housekeeping only, but done consistently, which is what keeps a house from becoming a fall risk.

Meals get cooked to what the person will actually eat, with whatever dietary restrictions their doctor has set. Groceries get picked up. Prescriptions get collected.

Medication reminders happen on schedule. Caregivers remind — they do not administer — and they tell you when the reminders stop working.

And there is company. Someone in the chair across from them. Someone to drive to the appointment in Flowood and sit through it. Families call us about safety and stay with us because of this part.

Care around the clock, seven days a week

Hourly visits, full days, overnight and live-in. What matters more than the schedule is what the overnight shift actually is, and nobody in this market explains it.

Awake overnight means the caregiver stays up. They are available for bathroom trips, for wandering, for the confusion that arrives at 2 AM in a way it never does at noon. This is what you need if the nights are genuinely broken.

Sleeping overnight means the caregiver rests in the home and gets up when needed. It suits a household where the risk is falling on the way to the bathroom rather than a person who is up half the night.

The two are staffed and billed differently. We will tell you which one your situation calls for after we have seen it, and we will change it if we get it wrong.

Live-in care puts a caregiver in the home continuously, with a sleep period and a scheduled relief rotation so the same tired person is not covering seven days.

How to start care

  • Call (601) 900-7218. Ten minutes on what is happening and whether non-medical care is the right answer.
  • In-home assessment. We come to the house in Brandon, meet the family, and write the care plan around the real routine.
  • First visit. Our median from first call to first visit is one day.

Rates are quoted per plan. The number is driven by hours per week, daytime versus overnight, and the level of hands-on assistance. You get a real figure at the assessment.

Serving Brandon and Rankin County

We serve Brandon and the surrounding Rankin County communities — including Flowood, Pearl, Richland, Florence and Pelahatchie — from our Jackson office.

Caregivers accompany clients out of the house, not just around it. That means appointments, the pharmacy, church, the grocery run, and outings that are worth leaving the house for.

We do not have an office in Brandon. Our address is in Jackson and our caregivers drive to you.

Questions families ask

What does non-medical care cover, and what does it not?
Personal assistance, light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, transport and companionship. Not skilled nursing, wound care, injections, therapy or administering medication. Reminders only. If skilled care is needed, that is a home health agency, and we will tell you so rather than take the case.
What does it cost, and who pays?
Rates are quoted per plan after the assessment. Most families pay privately. We also accept Medicaid and work with long-term care insurance claims, providing the visit records, invoices and care plan documentation required. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance. Rankin County has a real veteran population and this is worth asking about before you assume you are paying out of pocket.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Yes. We require a minimum of 4 hours per visit.
What happens if the regular caregiver is unavailable?
A substitute from the same team, briefed on the care plan before arriving, with advance notice whenever we have it. We treat surprise substitutions as our failure, not a normal part of the service.
